Stocking 07

The stocking on the left is from 1942 , the stocking on the right is 2007. The yarn is a worsted weight - the pattern called for a sport weight. I wonder has the yarn size changed in these years? Sport weight was not getting the right gauge and you can see that even in the worsted the gauge is a little different. I came as close as possible. Hopefully Nancy will be happy with the out come.

Amount:123 yards/50 gram ball

This Cardigan is in the book Jackets for work and play from XRX. This book is full of lots of beautiful sweaters to make. Not sure which one I will do next.

My Mom

Here is a vest my Mom made for me - now my daughter is wearing it. Today is Red, White, and Blue day at school in memory of 9/11. I have a skirt that belongs with the vest.. I had to make a few repairs on the vest. Not sure if the skirt would make it through a day at school.

The Ultimate Sock Book

Hey the book is out ! I designed this sock in memory of my Grandmother Gen DeGraffenreid.

Vogue Knitting Published it in their book The Ultimate Sock Book . Designing this sock was great fun. The hearts traveling along the foot and ankle - just like her love traveled with me. The pine trees respresent the pine trees that my grandparents would gather pine nuts from. The Nordic Star represents the Snow in the valley and on top of the mountains. I made this sock from Frog Tree Alpaca, in the book the sock is made from Louet - Gems sportweight. I am excited to share this pattern with other knitters.
